What inspired you to start practising Ju-jitsu?
Picture it. A sweltering london summer pride, I'm caked in make up as my drag persona Minnie Gherkin. Upon the horizon, like a stampede of wildebeest are ishigaki doing their thing in the London Pride parade. I knew at once it was for me!
What do you like about Ishigaki?
Ishigaki is a wonderfully supportive community. It's been fantastic for my mental health, physical well being and just feeling good about myself.
What has been a highlight of your Ju-jitsu journey so far?
Highlights have probably been all the friends I've made along the way. Lowlight (in the best way) was trying to give the club a tour around London zoo... it was like herding cats.
What would you say to anyone thinking of joining?
Do it! You literally have nothing to lose, you will meet great people and get so much out of it.
